The Guam Department of Education (GDOE) was awarded a U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) Office of Special Education Programs State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG) for the development and implementation of Project Hita Para Mo'na. This project is designed to develop a high-quality, sustainable professional development program to increase its personnel capacity to address the implementation of early intervention and special education evidence-based practices for improving functional outcomes and educational results for children with disabilities, with a focus on children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) across the age-groups. A requirement of the SPDG is to contract with national experts in special education leadership that utilizes the Leading by Convening framework, as appropriate, to carry out the State Personnel Development Plan outlined in Project Hita Para Mo'na.
