CHamoru is a dynamic and living language of communication. It is perpetuated, promoted, and protected to ensure its continued survival and usage.

 

MISSION

The primary mission of the Chamoru Studies and Special Projects Division (CSSPD) of the Guam Department of Education is to provide and implement educational programs that will revive and maintain the language and culture of the indigenous people of Guam.

About the CHamoru Studies and Special Projects Division
 
GDOE CHSSPD is a division under Curriculum and Instruction. We collaborate with other GDOE divisions and programs, schools, agencies, and organizations to create and implement CHamoru language and cultural learning opportunities for all students to graduate with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to prepare for post-secondary education, the workforce, and civic engagement. The Division continues to support our CHamoru educators, impacting approximately 15,800 students with CHamoru learning daily.
 
 
CHSSPD 50th anniversary (SY23-24)
Guam Department of Education CHamoru Studies and Special Projects Division (GDOE CHSSPD) is celebrating its 50th anniversary (SY23-24), a true milestone in Indigenous education. GDOE CHSSPD has been dedicated to promoting, preserving, revitalizing, and perpetuating the CHamoru language and Culture through education, fostering cultural pride, and nurturing Guam's future leaders.'
