SCHOOL LIBRARY CONFERENCE

The Guam Department of Education (GDOE) Division of Curriculum & Instruction, along with the School Library Program Planning Committee, will be facilitating the 2020 School Library Conference this week. This year’s theme is “Changing Minds in Changing Times”.

The week-long training will include guest presenters from academic, government, business, and non-profit organizations. The school librarians from elementary, middle and high schools will use the information from these presentations to build on their teaching craft, library programs and resources. Additionally, the conference will equip librarians with best practices and knowledge on topics such as meeting the needs of patrons, designing library programming, working with local resources, and finalizing the Guam School Library Evaluation System.

The goal of the conference is to support school librarians in their unique responsibility of ensuring all school stakeholders – students, faculty, staff, and parents – have access to information in print and digital forms and are connected to current and archived resources.

The conference will be held from Tuesday, February 11, 2020 through Friday, February 14, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the GDOE Tiyan headquarters Building A main conference room.
