Math Olympiad
Math Olympiad is a math problem solving contest for teams of up to 35 students in 4th and 5th grade. It is open only to schools, home schools and institutes, NOT individuals.
GOALS:
- To stimulate the enthusiasm and a love for mathematics
- To introduce important mathematical concepts
- To teach major strategies for problem solving
- To develop mathematical flexibility in solving problems
- To strengthen math intuition
- To foster mathematical creativity and ingenuity
- To provide for the satisfaction, joy, and thrill of meeting challenges
Island Wide Math Olympiad Competition: 4-6 students are to participate from each participating school. Each team competes in all categories (Sprint round, Target Round, and the Team round. Competition is typically held in the latter part of Spring.
