About the Art Program
During the school year, GATE teachers work after school with students from the fourth and fifth grades, typically. The students are taught various visual arts curriculum and the GATE teachers provide supplies and instructional materials in a course that typically runs 35 consecutive days. Students' final project are displayed in an art exhibit for other students, parents, and teachers. Framing and matting best work of students as well as displaying them in prominent locations allows the program to showcase their work. Also, an annual magazine is published that includes students' art work and poetry.
